Perhaps the best filter in the world, often imitated but never matched. Where most filters are made of paper or foam, K&N makes a very special filter.
A paper filter will become increasingly dirty with longer use, eventually the airflow will decrease sharply and so will the power.
A foam filter is slightly better, but has too little surface area to be able to foil clean for a long time. A K&N filter consists of 2 aluminum grids with a few layers of special cotton in between. This "mat" is folded many times and thus greatly increases the surface area of the filter.
The actual filtration is obtained by the special oil in which this element is soaked. Due to the passing air, the filter gets an electric charge, so that the dust particles are suspended and retained by the oil.
After a long time, sometimes up to 100,000klm, the filter can be cleaned and reused.
