K&N Filter

This filter is designed to replace the original filter. The main advantage is that the filter does not need to be replaced with a new one during maintenance. Instead, you can wash and re-oil the filter.

The filter element is a cotton gauze impregnated with a special oil. The cotton fibers absorb the oil, causing dirt to literally stick to them. As a result, more dirt is retained, which is better for preservation of the engine. Additionally, due to its construction, the filter allows more air to pass through, which benefits power output. Even when the filter becomes dirty and clogged, K&N still allows a significant amount of air to pass through, unlike other filters.

It does not make a substantial difference for air fuel when a stock exhaust is installed, but in combination with other modifications it is definitely recommended to have your motorcycle finetuned. If the predecessor is a low quality filter, then obviously it does make a difference to the tuning.
